Sōta Higurashi (日暮（ひぐらし）草（そう）太（た）, "Thick Grass (first name), Sunset (family name)") is Kagome Higurashi's younger brother. During the course of Hanyō no Yashahime, he became the husband of Moe, father of Mei, and adoptive father/half-uncle-in-law to Towa Higurashi. Sōta's unnamed father died in a car accident when his elder sister was four years old before he was born. They moved into the shrine before Sōta was born, and he never had a chance to know his father. He grew up with his older sister
