Monkey D. "Straw Hat" Luffy, is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the One Piece, one of the most famous manga series of all time. As a result of inadvertently eating a Devil Fruit named Gum-Gum he acquires the properties of rubber and dedicates himself to sail from the East Blue Sea to the Grand Line in search of the legendary treasure to succeed Gol D. Roger as King of the Pirates. Although his carefree and happy-go-lucky attitude can lead to misjudgments about his personality, the truth is he is a capable and reliable captain: he never puts his crew or himself at risk out of incompetence.
